truck is stock other than an intake and exhaust, Im probly going to get LPP shorties while the engines apart for $250 i cant see putting the stock manifolds on

I emailed comp cams and they suggested there XR265HR cam
54-424-11 - XFI RPM High Lift Hydraulic Roller Camshafts

with 26918-16 valve springs and 7.4" push rods 7955-16

the truck will also need a custom tune.. which Im sure will be another few hundred bucks,
Im already 800 into gaskets bolts, lifters, a new Water pump, the cam springs and pushrods are another 750... my girlfriend doesnt really have that much money so this is a budget project.

so i was wondering are there any cheeper cam kits, or could i put an ls1 or ls6 cam in with no modifications (pushrods, springs, tune)
truck needs to be reliable and get good gas milage still its a daily driver not a hot rod

If not anyone know who to call for a tune? Im in the NYC area, I called corvettes of westchester and their voicemail was full...

At the 1/4 mile drag track it gained 4 mph and 4 tenths in time
it was 4 tenths faster just by adding the cam and gained 4 mph in speed
That cam will be fine on the stock convertor

I have been doing a lot of studying the past few weeks because of my misfortunes. Your picture looks just like my lifter on my 06 avalanche z71. I would love to know what is causing this. I have a buddy in the salvage business that had a chevy truck with 26,400 miles that I was able to buy the motor for a 1K. I thought it was a great deal. I am intrested in rebuilding this motor and maybe install in a 89 YJ Jeep I have. I may even put it back in the avalanche and put that motor in the jeep. How did your cylinders look? Mine had no ridge at all and I can still see the buff pattern in the cylinder walls. It had just over 94K miles on it. Alway's changed oil regular and used Castrol 5w-30. I ordered a nice engine stand from Jegs that I should get tomorrow so I can finish tearing the old motor down.

I forgot to ask was that motor making an odd scrubbing noise? Like a chiping sorta? It drove me nuts trying to figure out what it was. I have a friend with a tahoe and his is making the same fuss. His has random misfires just like mine did.

Ditch the springs comp recommends and go with LS6 springs and the low lift version of the cam.

I think it would be better if you kinda let us know what kind of budget you have in mind.
