well got the cam out and the bearings dont look very good and there were small pieces of metal on that plate below the crank I'm not risking it

Take a picture of them and send it to me. If they're the ones I think they are I may take them off of your hands.

Glad I could save you a little misery. I would try car-part.com and buy a good used 5.3, should be able to get a 6 month warranty.

thought about it and locally there is a 38k 5.3 for only 800 but with my luck it would have problems......

I appreciate the suggestion and figured if she was selling the truck soon Id do it but she says shes going to keep it so I figured Id get a nice fresh reman

now I'm debating a 6.0 or 5.3 the 5.3 is 2095 plus tax and shipping my cost from jasper, from what Im told the 6.0 should bolt right in no problems

If the 6.0 is close in price I think it would be worth it then just call black bear for a tune

No way in Hades I'd give over 2 grand for a 5.3,you could buy 3 junkyard motors for that,or just one put a cam and lifters, springs in it. My 2 cents it's your money.

Definitely junk yard motor!!! Ive bought 4-5 of them and never had a problem with any. You've just had bad luck with your 5.3, these new LS engines are 100x more reliable than an old SBC, the likelyness that you'd get a bad one is very slim...

I would trust a 100K mile used engine over a reman engine. Especially for the price of a junkyard engine Vs reman prices.
