I would do a 408ci out of a 6.0 block. There is a big difference off boost which makes the 408 faster.I know 15psi of turbo on a 408ci put you 800-1000rwhp depending on setup. Forget the 4L60,just do the 80 the first time. You don't notice the longer gear if the tires just smoke anyways.

Well, my truck is AWD, and I heard that the 65 has a smaller OD which is better for highway. Am I remembering that correctly? Thats my only reason for wanting to stay in a 65.

get the 65e built to hold up, a 6.0 bored 0.10 over with forged pistons and rods will do very nice.
their is no need to replace the stock crank.
guys over on tech and some on here are making 550 to 700 hp on the stock crank
and it is holding up to runs at the strip and daily driving.
i only know of one that broke a stock crank, and it was because the supercharger
belt pulled so tight it snaped the crank even with the oil seal on the timing case cover.
that was his fault for way over tighting the belt so it would not slip.
a 6.0 and 15 psi will lay out some very nice numbers for hp/tq but you really need a
very good turner to dial it all in and keep it from blowing up.

If the truck makes real power like your going, then the 65 will just die.Always happens, just matter's how long it takes.Thats a heavy truck with alot of load on the tranny.

Nothing beats bigger cubes with FI on a street vehicle.

Slo,
I am trying to achieve the last sentence in your sig.

Not really, but about half that. I really would like to go the extra cubes, but if I can achieve 500 at the wheels, reliably with just a little bit of work, then hell yeah. Plus, this truck is my DD, and a fire breathing 408 will just incure more cost all around. From assembly to repair to maintenance to GAS.

I figure that a nice little blown 364 bored .010 will function nicely. I ain't looking to be the fastest thing in Florida, but I'd like to surprise a Vette every now and then.

To make 500RWHP you're only going to need 8-10psi out of a 6.0L. There is no need to shoot higher than that. Just build a 6.0L with whatever over-bore is needed for the block with some good pistons and put some boost to it. The trans will need help for sure though. As for the rest of the drivetrain, I would only worry about the Gov-Lock in the rear diff.
