Default 4.8 cam options?

Im in the thew process of acquiring a 4.8 longblock and am looking for good cam. Possibly a gm cam that i can buy used out of another ls motor. I'd like to keep it cheap cause its jus a beater project truck.

Hey, welcome to PT.net! Check out the classified section and you can probably find a deal on one of MANY cams that you can consider. Also, read the 'sticky' post about bolt-ons and you'll get more info to ponder than you can possibly imagine.

Good luck with your build and safe

I found a ls1 ASA GMPP cam for $150 on ebay... I bought it and will have it on mine in a few weeks. specs are 226/236 .525/.525 @ 110 LSA. Ill let you know how it works. Its a step up from the gm hot cam.

Usually I take the time to say that but I've grown weary trying to convince the guys on this site that most of their camshafts are too aggressive for a heavy truck. Glad you said it instead.

Any LS6 cam will work and you can pick one up for less then 50 bucks over on LS1 tech. Ill look through my piles of cams in the garage I think Ive got one Ill give you for free if I can tell the difference between it and the 6L and LS1 cams Ive got laying around.
