well the motor is starting to come along just getting all of the parts, i have ported and polished 317's(cnc) dual springs, eagle rods, probe pistons, and im sticking with the iron block, the part im having trouble with now is do i buy the forged 3.622 or stay with the stock.

I would recommend a forged 4" stroke over a forged 3.622 crank because the are very close to the same price.

well the ting is i already have a cam for a 370 and i dont feel like selling it and orderign another one. plus i know the added torque from a 408 will kill my tranny even faster. so 370 plus boost it is most likly going to be.

What is the cam that you currently have? Small cams can work very well with turbo's, I think the added displacement will help get you spooling faster.

Edit: Sorry I didn't realize you run a blower, in that case the displacement obviously doesn't affect "spool".

well im finally on my way, i took the engine out last night with 12-13 psi. didnt sound good and alot of smoke. so i ordered the crank today(eagle 3.622) im going to use forged probe rods( like moregrip) and most likley je pistons. im using patriot stg 3 heads , a 216/222 546/587 114 +3 cam. and im going to use most of my stcok stuff if its ok. i may go with some new rockers and new timign chain . hopefully i get his done fast so i can drive the SS again. i want to throw 15 psi and 150 shot at it. can you say 7 k shifts!!

I still think you should have saved your money on a forged crank, the factory crank has been proven to 1000rwhp.

i got a good deal on it, and i dont want the heart ache if somethign goes wrong. its also lighter so it will rev up faster , i know not much i just need this engine to handle 1000 hp. besides im 99% sure my stock crank is trash. i know i have a big hole in the side of my 5k mile old lq9. i dont see it as a waste i see it as insurance.

It's never a mistake to do something right the first time.

BTW... I just remembered this same conversation from 9/06 in this thread:

Seeing one or two cars hit 1000 hp with a stock crank does not "prove" the crank can withstand that. Showing a thousand of *trucks* do it, daily driven as Chase's truck will be, and for 50000 miles with n2o and 17psi for track duty may start to get there.

There is no harm in over-building. There's a lot of heart ache (and broken parts) in under-building.
We get that you think the stock crank would have been enough Cody. We just don't agree. There's no reason to keep banging that drum, ok?
