Default 2013 Silverado 1500 LT 5.3 Whipple, Needs Cam

First time posting..... Here is a little background on my Truck, 2013 Silverado 1500 LT 5.3, 18x9 XD Revolver Wheels, 35x12.5x18 Nitto Trail Grappler M/T Tires, Rough Country Suspension Systems 7.5" Suspension Lift, Rough Country Hidden Winch Mount, Rough Country 12k lbs Winch, and Rough Country 50" High Intensity Led Light Bar with the Rough Country mount, 2.3L Whipple Supercharger, American Racing 1-3/4" longtube Headers, NGK TR6 Plugs, Corsa Exhaust, Norris Motorsports Billet Catch Can.

I need a CAM, my truck is loud but doesn't have that idle you can hear at the stop light. You know what I'm talking about. You pull up to that red light and you hear it, feel it. Everyone looks at your truck. So i am asking for your help to help me get the right one.

Just an idea other members that are more experienced with boost will chime in.

I assume you stall is stock? If you plan to keep it stock then I would run something like vinci 210/218 .551/.551 on 114 lsa or 112 lsa if you want a little more chop. This on the small end of cam scale, but it a great over all cam for our little 5.3Ls, has a lot of lowend power and really wakes up from 4-6K rpms.

If you go any larger you are probably going to want to stall it.

Awesome truck. You are probably going to want a tight LSA for chop, but you won't NEED it because of the boost will be there to bolster the low end of the powerband. I thought I needed a smaller cam than I got for my truck until I drove it, but it does fine with a stock stall.

I'm in no way edumacated in forced induction, but wouldn't he want something with a closer split since he has headers and a free flowing exhaust system?

For a stock stall i would grab a ls9 cam basically because they are cheap. But it wont give you that chop but if a stall is in the near future i would definately be going bigger.

The larger duration exhaust lobes help keep the exhaust side flow up with the boosted intake pressure. In a sense, it slightly restricts the intake air so the exhaust air can catch up on escaping, which helps to equalize intake/exhaust pump of the motor.

But yes you are correct about the headers helping to eliminate this issue and allowing for a closer split, but it applies more to n/a applications.

I don't know if I would run the ls9 cam...... that is a heavy truck with all the off road upgrades.

216/226 114+3

It'll chop enough to be heard but it will have enough manners to DD.
