400-450 is easily achievable with a 6.0. take the saved money and buy some really nice heads and make more power than a stock head 408.

That's the route I think I'm gonna go and upgrade to a 408 later. What would have to been done to a stock 6.0 to get 450? heads, cam, and is a stall necessary? I want power staring about 1500 rpms.

Don't build a motor on a budget, hell just the gaskets and sensors will cost you over $500
And surely you won't reuse the old cam pushrods valve springs timing set or oil pump the list goes on.

Builds don't go according to budgets!
Trust me I had it all wrote down and figured out.
Budget went bye bye and ordered what I needed.
Parts shipping will save you money

That's why I'm re-routeing from a 408 to a stock 6.0 build.

I think the 6.0 will be the way for me to start anyways, I found a wrecked 2500 van today hoping its a 6.0 if so I'm sure I can get it for a steal (I'm thinking 400- 600 bucks people in my area don't know their worth) that way I won't have to worry about a budget.

Why? When a turbo kit alone will cost me $1500-$2000, Cam and new valvetrain to support the turbo. Or can I just throw a turbo on a stock 130,000+ mile 4.8 and be ok? And would a turbo 4.8 be a better daily driver than a 6.0 with head work, cam, and duals?

How were you tearing up motors? Tune? Too much boost?

What's a good deal, and what all comes with this deal?

just turbo the 4.8.. you'll be fine for sure. i just put a turbo on my 100k mile 5.3. can make 500hp easy with this setup. perfect driveability, lot cheaper to boot

So you just threw a turbo on it stock valvetrain and all, or did you put a new cam and valvetrain?
