1999 6.0 swap into 05 5.3 truck
#1
I found a 99 6.0, and want to put it in my 05. The heads are iron, and I will be using my TSP 2.5 heads. I will more than likely end up with new pistons so that the compression lowers. Is there anything else I should know before I try to tackle this job? 6.0's are real hard to find around this area.

Mine are about 60cc, I have been told that 317's are 71.06cc. That means I would have to run a gasket about .070 to make the comp ratio about 10:1. Or I will have to run pistons with bigger dishes.

I think I will get new pistons, and more than likely get LS9 gaskets. So the bolt difference differs from the block? I thought the heads were the determining factor for what heads to use.

Yes, the length of the bolts changed. In other words the depth of the threads in the block. It has nothing to do with the heads them self's or the pattern.
