I've had a bunch of guys run 12's with NA 5.3 Reg cabs like that with my 221/224, 108 lsa, and 224/227/108 lsa camshafts and basic boltons with 4.10's and 3600 yank or Circle D converters. 6400 rpm is a bit on the low side tho, NA 5.3's don't get too excited down low.. . Milled and ported heads with tbss intake helps a bunch but has also happened with stock intake and heads. Having suspension dialed in with right converter is key.

Not bad at all. At the end of my upgrades I'd like to be around there if not quicker. After cam I think I need to upgrade the 60e a little. It'll stay n/a for awhile so I'll see what I can get it to run. I like JFR's options he mentioned. Most likely dead set on the 220/226 since I don't have enough converter for something larger. Which I think is plenty for me. I'm still debating on a 4.10 or 4.30 for that little less RPM on highway on 29" tire. Eventually will ditch the stock rear shock location and upgrade to rear location vertically and traction bars.

Saw a build recently... TEA ported 706 heads, Crane 224/232 .590 114 LSA cam, 1.75" LTs, FAST LSXRT - 484 HP @ the crank. That should be enough to get into the 12s with the right converter, gear, tire, susp. Could most likely substitute a TBSS intake for the FAST and make about the same power.
About to do this same 224/232 cam with ported 799s on a friend's 2013 4.8L. Curious to see how it does.

Just saw your comment 86 IROC. 484 hp but way too much money into it vs a 6.0. Cam honestly is too large for a 4.8/5.3 truck and they probably rev'd it to 7500's. I'd like to keep mine simple, nothing crazy. Looking a picking up a set of 862 or 706's and milling them and a little port work to get compression right at 10.0. Along with a cam from JFR matched with my 3500 stall should be good enough. Leaving the 3.73's for the mean time since I do some decent highway driving on weekend. Eventually will go 4.11's though.

You can run 862s and avoid the Castech problem. Same port and flow as the 706, just not manufactured by Castech. Richard Holdner made more power, stock to stock, with 862s. Still waiting to see if compression is what broke the camel's back. But even a boosted test he did, the 862s performed remarkably over the 243s on a 6.0. Makes ya wonder.

I thought he made more with the 706's. But yes the 862's wouldn't be bad either. Probably make more low end power with the 862's instead of the 243's. And they're much cheaper to start with.
