Default 07 vortec max nbs what cam/engine mods?

hey i have a 07 silverado vortec max new body style the head gasket just went on it so im going to get the motor built but i have no idea what parts to use...right now the truck has a blackbear tune, volant intake, speed engineering 1 7/8" headers with true 3" duals with xpipe and a built transmission with shift kit, corvette servo 3300 stall torque converter etc. im looking to make as much power as possible but the truck is still daily driven...can anyone recommend a good vvt cam? and what else should i upgrade while im in the engine im gonna do lifters and springs but i dont know much about modding engines so i dont know what else i can do?

Your truck doesnt have VVT in it.

Head work on the L92 heads will show gains, but not as much as prior generation heads do. I would probably send them to Advanced Induction for a port job if I was you. Mill them slightly to give yourself a tad more compression too. How many miles are on them? You will want to make sure you stick with powdered valve guides ad the bronze guides will get abused by the stock rockers.

From there basic cam and valvetrain upgrades are in order. You will need to replace the DOD lifters with a standard LS7 lifter from GM.

There are a lot of cams that will work great for you. The 3300 converter opens up a lot of options. You can very easily pick a cam with will make more torque at 3300, but also pull like a freight train above 5500 compared to stock.

What kind of manners are you looking for? Post up a video of your desired idle quality and we can go from there. How about target shift points?

What do you think of this?

That sounds good i wouldnt mind a more lumpy cam and not sure on shift points if it makes alot of power at higher rpm would i want it to shift higher for max power? And the truck has 170k on it and im in canada so i dont really wanna send the heads out should i just keep them stock if they flow good? I do have a local guy thats built drag cars for 30+ years and he said he could port the heads and id save alot of money not shipping them out of canada

It has DOD and not VVT. Only the L92 had VVT in 2007.

Yeah that info he said isn't correct. All of the L76's in the trucks had VVT... just the car version of the engine did not. Another LS with VVT in 2007 is the LY6 used in the HD trucks.
