Default 2 piece driveshafts. NBS ext cab into K2 CC?

Has anyone seen any write ups on it or know anything about it? I ran into a dude a couple of weeks ago that threw a 2 piece from a NBS extended cab in his NNBS crew cab, said it all bolted right up and went right together and they made their own support bearing cross member. But it was almost literally just thrown in. They made their own cross member and it was pretty janky so I'd like something nicer. Which I could fab the cross member and weld it in easily, just looking for a nice write up or info on it, if it's out there. So far my googling isn't coming up with anything.

Another thing, if I recall correctly the NNBS and K2 trucks share the same chassis. If that's so then I could also use a 2 piece from a NBS extended cab also since this guy had a 2010 CC truck with a short bed and 6L80 trans, but I'd like to confirm some of that before getting started.

I've called on getting a shaft made and I'm getting all kinds of different answers and I keep mentioning that I want a shaft with a higher critical speed and every shop so far has only spoke about how strong they can make one. I don't need it to be stronger I need a higher critical speed threshold. Those things may go hand in hand, I don't know, but nobody yet has had a conversation about critical speed, they all kinda go silent then start talking about strength. A stock 2 piece would work fine since the shorter the shaft the higher the critical speed, and 2 short shafts have a really high critical speed.

That's for 07-13. I have a 2014 and want to know if anyone has put a 2 piece shaft from a NBS extended cab in a 14+ or knows anything about the swap.

Yes I have and it's essentially the same thing the other guy posted but for my year model.

The thing is, I can fabricate the cross member that those kits come with, so I've got a cross member covered.

What I'm looking to find out is if anyone knows if the 2 piece shaft from 99-07 extended cab trucks will fit in a 2014 crew cab. I saw one in a 2010 crew cab.

I can get a used shaft for $100-$150. U joints for $40 or so and put them in myself and fabricate a cross member myself. I can get the shaft balanced nearly free.

Point is I can do my own 2 piece setup for under $200, if the 99-07 fits. I'm trying to avoid spending 700-800 or more when I can do most of the setup myself easily.

While you can probably find and use a stock 2pc, I wouldn’t. If you plan on power adders or driving it over 100, have one built.

The stock 2 piece from the older truck is steel. The 2014 trucks use paper thin aluminum shafts. There are 2 2014 trucks in the UAE running mid 9's on stock thin aluminum shafts. They hold power fine and the steel 2 piece will hold more, and it'll also hold higher speed since it's 2 very shorter shafts. 100 is nothing for the 2 piece. 150 probably not even close to being an issue. Those trucks in the UAE are regular cab short beds so they hold the speed fine, it's the trucks like mine that don't (crew cab 2wd). Even the crew cab 4wd trucks are fine because they have a shorter shaft.

I don't need a stronger shaft, they are strong enough. I need shorter ones with higher critical speed. If you aren't familiar with critical speed read up on it and maybe this will all make more sense.

A used one is just a piece of metal, I have more sense than dollars so I'm not gonna spend and extra $500+++ just to get a shiny new one when I can go through the used one and freshen it up and have it like new for around $200 total. I can even make it shiny and pretty inside that cost. The only other thing is I need a cross member. I can fab that for free or close to free and weld it free.

All you need is a measurement from the trans output shaft to the pinion yoke. If the GMT900 matches yours then I'd say you're in business with the proper trans slip yoke and u joints. The shaft itself doesn't care what it's under. That pic in the link looks like the 2 piece GMT800 shaft to me.

I agree, I don't have the nbs ext cab shaft around to measure though.

the gmt 800 ex cab short bed shaft is what I saw in a gmt 900 crew cab short bed. And the gmt 900 was a 6L80 trans truck so I think it'll work. Just hoping to find someone that could confirm it before I buy a used shaft.
