Vararam-vs-MIT Air Intake & Powerbond UDP G-Tech results on a 6.2

Here are my updated g-tech results on a 2011 xtd cab z71 4x4 with the 6.2 and 3.42 gears running on 17” factory alloys and running in 4 auto. The fixed mods (not listed below) are diablosport diablo (92 octane) tune, ported stock throttle body, 2” leveling kit, and soft tonneau cover. I do not have a good baseline on my stock truck as I just recently learned to launch in 4 auto for better and more consistent times.
14.46 @ 98.1 mph (avg of 4 runs) with MIT & modified stock air box, NO UDP
14.62 @ 97.2 mph (avg of 3 runs) with Vararam air intake, NO UDP
14.24 @ 99.4 mph (avg of 3 runs) with Vararam air intake & Powerbond UDP
14.04 @ 100.7 mph (avg of 2 runs) with MIT, modified stock airbox, & Powerbond UDP
I have found that I also lose 1 to 1.5 mpg by running the Vararam intake so it is off for good...anyone want to buy it? (ha! ha!) I am also getting an in person Black Bear tune over the weekend (in Sacramento) so I will report my G-tech & MPG results from that as well. Don’t bash on the G-tech as it is a very good tool to compare mods. It’s pretty safe to say that the trap speeds from the g-tech are a 2-3 mph high. One more quick thing to note is that I removed my nerf bars at the same time I installed my UDP so there is probably a slight improvement from removing the 50lbs or so.

Thanks for the launch tip...wish I would have known before I made 2 more runs this morning...see updated results in original post.
My results this morning tell me pretty much what I was expecting with the MIT & modified stock airbox. The thing that blows me away is how I got about 4 tenths faster with the UDP. My only justification is that the truck comes off the line substantially quicker as the launch was/is the weak point of my truck with its 3.42 gears since the UDP gives you a little more power through the whole powerband rather than just mid/top end like most mods. There is also one more thing to note is that I removed my factory nerf bars (maybe 50 lbs) since the UDP install so that probably is worth about 1/2 of a tenth.

The reason I ask is as u can see in my sig my truck is a ccsb and with just a tune I ran a 9.00 (13.99) and that was on a 87 tune. My brother ran a 8.90 (13.83) on denali 20's and his was on 93 tune. Both tuned with HP Tuners. Same gears, nothing different from mine but wheels. I put the vararam CAI on my truck and now I beat him by a truck and a half. So I'm guessing I will run a 8.80 or .85 now which is about a 13.70-.75. Also my truck picked up about 1 mpg with the vararam and my buddy's truck picked up 1.5mpg with it as well. I'm not by any means calling you a liar I was just comparing trucks and locations. I wonder how accurate that G-Tech is...? When will you be able to take it to the track and see what it runs? You need to bring it to Alabama!! Lol

Are you using 1/8 mile times to calculate your 1/4 mile times? Those formulas don't work well on heavy 4x4 trucks with the aerodynamics of a house.
The OP wasn't claiming a 1/4 mile time. He was just using the meter as a tool to directly compare a couple of mods to each other.

Are you using 1/8 mile times to calculate your 1/4 mile times? Those formulas don't work well on heavy 4x4 trucks with the aerodynamics of a house.
