As soon as I learned that Chevy let you get the 6.2 in LT trim, I knew I had to trade my '09 which I just did yesterday. What an option for 2k: upgrade to 6.2, 6L80E, 14 bolt rear, and disc brakes in the rear. I couldn't find what a really wanted (EC, Black, Silver or Taupe) but am happy with the truck I found.
Ok, I know these 6.2s have the cam phaser and Comp Cams has a few cams for them already. I will look more into this down the road but for now I want headers and a tune. I've seen some posts where people mention that catbacks are a possible waste of $$$. Does the stock catback flow that well? Also, of the 4 headers for our trucks (Dynatech, ARH, Kooks, SW) which ones are compatible with 4wd? I know the dynatech are for sure but am not sure about the others. Also looking at their websites some don't seem to specify if there is a 6.2 specific header. I think 1 7/8" would probably be the best for more hp/tq without raising the powerband, no? Which brings me to my next question: what kind of tuning issues are there with the 6.2? It would suck to not get the full benefit of headers if tuners are still trying to get this motor figured out. Basically, I want to start of with headers and a dynotune then down the road do a cam and retune. I want to keep the powerband similar to factory since this is a truck but figure 400rwhp with peak power in the 5500-5800 range should be doable with no loss down low.

There should be no fit issues with 4x4 headers.
There is some debate on 1 7/8 vs 1 3/4, I choose 1 7/8 on ARH'S advise for 6.2.
I don't find any loss of low end torque or power but haven't proved it on a dyno.
The oe muffler does have chambers and baffles and 2.5 inch inner tubes, so cat backs should improve performance.
Also, headers and catback equals LOUD
Most good tuners will tune for your set up especially on a dyno.
Enjoy your new truck.

no tune on mine yet but it does need one! been in ones that have tune and you will be amazed at how much just that makes a difference on the 6.2. plant on doing headers and an e-cutout aswell. call me lame but i dont care for my dd to be all loud and stuff anymore

One thing I've already noticed is that the 6.2/6L80E/3.42 is much stronger off the line than the 5.3/4L60E/3.73 truck was. The dealership filled it up with 87 so I'll keep it somewhat mellow until about 500 miles are on there and I have it filled with 93 or E85.

that's right- the 6.2 is not labored at all. It's also head and shoulders above the 6.0 LQ9 as the heads- which you've prolly heard all about are decendants of the LS7, the combustion chambers are just the schizzle...........
