I'm not 100% with an '08 but the general steps are:
1. Segment swap in the tune
2. cross member or modify the stock one
3. driveshaft (preferably just have a new/better/bigger one built as the stock one is garbage anyway)
4. repin the harness/wire in front sensor OR conversion harness/wire in front sensor - pick your poison here
And yes, it will bolt up just fine. You will need an 80e converter. Most guys do a 3-bolt converter to alleviate changing the flywheel to the 6-bolt, 80e.

6l90 would be a much better, but more extensive/expensive to complete.
My 07 ccsb nnbs blew the trans and I had a 4l80e lined up.. but at the last minute someone talked me into doing a fully built 4l65e and 5 year warranty for 2 grand installed. So I went that route... but I’m already after two years having issues again..and I hate having my work truck down or not operating at 100%
This is with a stock 5.3 engine too.
Now I’m in the middle of a Thompson MS 370ci swap and have been saying my goodbyes to that 65.
Even though I got a deal and warranty, I wish I would’ve gone with the 80e and never had to touch the trans again. Don’t let anyone make you think the 60/65 will ever be as good as the 80/85, it’s a massive waste of time.
i just hope someone reading this avoids spending any money on a 65 like me.
