Default Trans Fluids

Just curious if anyone has changed their transmission fuild over to royal purple.

I was looking at the RP site and the only auto-trans fluid I can find is the MAX ATF.

But they have a disclaimer saying:
Please note: Max ATF is not recommended or an approved warranty replacement for: Aisin Warner AW-1, Ford Type F, Ford Mercon SP & Mercon LV, GM Dexron VI, Mercedes Benz MB 236.12 & 236.14, Shell M1375.4 (ZF 6-Speed AT) and Toyota WS. Max ATF is not recommended for use in any CVT applications.

So I sent them an e-mail asking what I should use.

Instead of a reply the rep. just wrote "see below", and edited my e-mail.

[DC] RP MaxATF MultiSpec ATF - part #01320
[DC] It can not be a warranty approved product as it is not of the same viscosity as the lighter Dexron VI (6 cSt) versus the Dexron III which is a 7.5 cSt.
It will work fine in your transmission but in 2006 and up - GM went to the lighter oil chasing fuel mileage - so we can not claim warranty approval.

So I am just curious what other people are using. If someone is using the MAX ATF I would like to hear from you about any temp changes, performance, and all that other good

No one should be running MAX ATF in a New transmission that runs on Dexron VI. like they said, it's not the same viscosity and could damage the transmission.
Anyone running it is using a pre 06 truck that requires Dexron III.

I have also heard that the 4L80's should take Dex 6 regardless of year

As far as brands go, I think currently you can get Mobil 1, Red Line, and ACDelco

Edit: nevermind those are just the only ones that were coming up for me in my search.

Got amsoil front to back in mine. Did it when it was only a couple of weeks old no troubles I've used their products for years. Amsoil is cross compatible.

I did a trans fluid flush 2 weeks ago with Amsoil ATF. I also run it in a 05 Mustang and a 04 Ion with good results.

Checked Amsoil's site and it does Show to be use-able in a trans requiring Dexron Vi.

And that is your choice.

The benefits of running a fully synthetic tranny fluid are well worth the price. With the synthetic you get lower operating temps (meaning longer living tranny) also if you read through GMs tranny service it gives mileage rating for the fluid at different temps. This is something else very important if you tow or step on your truck allot. The synthetic also gives you better wear protection over conventional and blinds.
