You unbolt the converter through the hole that opens up when you pull the starter.

There is a 2005 6.0 with accessories, transmission, everything, for $1200 here in East Texas... 40,000 miles... Looks to be in good shape...

I can't bring myself to tear out my 4.8 and put in the 6.0... this truck is in new condition ):

for a 6.0 swap to work on a NNBS truck, does the 6.0 need to be from a specific year?

yes ! . . . the doner truck needs to be 08 and newer from the GMT900 trucks . . . meaning the NNBS trucks

2007+ GMT900

i swapped a 6.2 in my truck.

the easy thing honestly is take your time.
disconnect the battery.
unbolt all acc and move them to the side
pull the water pump
pull the exhaust manifolds/spark plugs
pull the intake
get into the engine bay, and pull the top 3 bolts of the tranny its easier.
pull the starter
unbolt the converter, use a ratchet to turn the crank over to get to the 3 bolts.
block the tranny up, and pull the last 4 bolts holding the tranny.
unbolt the hood and put a stick to hold it up, or let it fold back onto the windshield with a blanket.
(dont unbolt the whole hood just the single bolt to the hinge)
pull the 3 bolts in the motor mounts that go to the frame dont fight trying to take the mounts off at the block.

its not in order but thats the basic stuff.. if you got anymore questions just post up.

oh FYI i pulled the 5.3 in a few hours and had the 6.2 finished the next day(had work)
