Yeah but I like the 6.2 and there aren't a lot of 6.2s bieng played with so it's nice to see a lil different build . I think your gonna have a fun quick truck when your done .

So what caused the flaking in the first place , bad lifters or cam / cam bearings ?

I think the cam itself bc it had grooves in 4 or 5 lobes of the cam. Only those lifters were flaking. I was running patriot dual springs so a lot of people say they caused this issue. Yet if thats the reason then all the cam lobes and lifters would have been eatten up. It was a comp cam so idk exactly what caused it.

2 cam bearings showed some copper (front 2) with light scratches. As for the rod and main bearings they had light scratches but no copper showing.

I should be getting my motor back next week. Nothing insane just upgraded bolts, coated bearings, hand filed rings, debured block. Deck height cut a tad to be true.

I got my pacesetter LTs in, ill be cleaning up the welds on the inside to make sure there are no loose slag. I didnt splurge on the coated headers so now i have to figure out what to spray them with that will last. They also need 2 o2 bungs vs the threads just in the collector.

The new cam is a Tick Performance cam spec'd by martin smallwood. Bullet is the ones who cut the new cam.

Who wants to guess the specs

Too lazy to check a book so this is outta thin air 234/248 111+5 LSL lobes

lol

As for the cam going out that sucks man. I see that happening now and then and I cant say they were all running Patriot springs either. I ran them for three HARD seasons and lots of street miles too but they went soft and have since been replaced with PAC1518's

I had 28k on em so idk if it was spring issue or not. My new set are brian tooley dual springs.

234 is correct. 248 is too big. And 111 is close.

Tooleys springs are good, no doubt about it. But follow his service spec on their lifespan ( i have no idea what it is on those I havent run them yet )

Only thing I could maybe see as the golds aged ( mine went soft ) maybe the valves went out of control a bit and the lifters were unloading/loading a bit too hard, possibly even jumping off the lobes a little? Thats about the only thing i can think of. Regardless... it sucks to have to teardown/rebuild I know the pain... as recent as last year but in the end its the name of the game,

if you aint breaking? You aint racing.

Any ptv contact at all?

Ill email him about his service on the springs. He is very helpful!

I dont mind changing springs, its the flaking of the cam and lifters that annoys me lol.

The cam specs are a 234/242 110+5 it better fly or imma blow it up.

As for the PTV issue...i dont know, the machine shop is putting it together. So they will know if the pistons need fly cut or not. I wish i could have found a set of LS3 pistons on the cheap

I wanna a sound clip of that bump stick !

I'm excited for ya , she's gonna run and will have no trouble stretching out her legs up top .

Too bad on the cam though that's BS !

Side note , anything done to the 6L80E besides tuning ? I'm just curious if they make a shift kit for these or if one is needed ( still learning on these new to me trans)

Tim: bone stock 6L80e just tuned. If i start to have issues ill then upgrade but as of right now its pulling strong. Hammer on the other hand has a PATC built 6L80e 1200rwhp so.say.

I hope it chops up pretty good with a 44" 4" o.d. Muffler lol. Ill be taking my old 3" tail pipe and making a new y pipe to get rid of the crinkle bend i have in it right now. I need to find my V bands so i can make the left side of the Y pipe removable when i have to drain the trans or change the filter.
