Default Flip Kit + Drop Shackle = Lower or Higher???

I was emailing back and forth with stylin trucks and they totally confused me.
They first told me that if I got a 7" flip kit with a 1" drop shackle that would raise me up to a 6" drop. Then they said the opposite and told me that a 7" flip kit with a 1" drop shackle would lower me down to a 8" drop. huh?

So does a drop shackle on a flip kit raise or lower the drop?

On the GMT900 a flipkit is a 7" drop.

A shackle with the 7" flip kit will raise the back to 6" drop.

A 1" lift shackle will, but a drop shackle will still be a drop shackle.

No he was right the first time. The 07-Up trucks have a flipped shackle setup so a longer shackle will raise the rear of the truck and a shorter shackle will lower it.

No one ever said that.

He's asking about the new style trucks(07-10). They are totally different than the 99-06 I'm assuming you're referring to. The shackle mount is flipped when compared to a 99-06.

Believe me man, between the two of us(Dezert1500 and me) we have done a few static drops in our time.

That's news to me, every GMT900 I've seen has had the same shackle setup as the GMT800s.

Is it a 2wd/4wd difference? I'm not sure I've been under a 2wd, but I'm just about positive all the 4wd GMT900s I've seen have had the same style shackle as my truck.

Lol, its confusing right.

So If I want a 6" drop, I could go with the Belltech 7" flip kit with a McG 1" drop shackle?

ummm im lost too I just put a flip kit on my buddys 09 and the way its setup if you put a drop shackle its gunna drop it nothing changed with the suspension besides instead of the axle sitting under the leaf spring it now sits on top but that has nothing to do with how a lowering shackle works on this specific kit..... i think the kits you guys are talking about are the ones were it flips the rear shackle over with a new hanger then in that case yes a lowering shackle will actually lift it but those kits are not 7 inch drop kits only the ones were the axle is phisicly moved from under to over the leaf springs like in my case
