I've been thinking. Instead of making everything so complicated, couldn't I just go with a 6" flip kit and just add a 1" drop shackle when I want to go 7" drop?

no such thing getting 6" from a flip kit on the 07+'s. Yes, the flip kit itself gives 6" of drop, but since they came with a 1" lift block from the factory, you end up with 7" of drop from using the flip kit and removing the stock block

Would anyone know if the Belltech 1/2" lift shackle would work with a McGaughy's flip kit?
I was told the McGaughy's short shackle (which I was told is about a 1" lift) would not work because of clearance issues with the leafsprings. So I was wondering if it was ok to run the 1/2" lift shackle with the 7" flip kit without any clearance issues?

What I did was cut 3/4" out of my stock shackle and weld it back together to give roughly 1/2" of lift. Was very close to rubbing, but it didnt rub.

I'm running a flip kit, lift bracket and a 2 inch drop shackle, for 5 inches. along with front 2 inch drop spindles.

6 inch drop would be easy with the flip kit, lift bracket, and a 1 inch drop shackle.
