Default 6.0 L76 dod delete CAM?

I have an 07 sierra with the 6.0 and I am having problems with gm's dod lifters. I want to do this dod delete but I'm a little unclear on if I need to change the cam in my truck, I just got off the phone with thunder racing and they told me that I have to change it to an aftermarket cam that wasn't designed for dod or put in an older cam off an 06 and convert it to the 3 bolt sprocket. If I need to get a cam I will, if I don't need a cam I'd rather not change it out. My truck has over 200,000 miles and I'd rather not get too aggressive on the cam if I can avoid it. Thanks for your reply.

just put a baby cam (something designed for low end torque). with 200k id be more worried about the oil pump getting worn out, so it'd be wise for me as the owner to just replace it. i over do everything though

Great info iamkeniff. Going to be doing this to my 08 Tahoe, but I'm going to use the cts-v lifters instead. What aftermarket cam recommendations do you guys have for a 5.3 table z71? I'm looking for a glass smooth idle, and a nice bump in torque in the midrange. I want to get a slightly higher stall too, 2400-2600 range. All this before I lock down on a good 93 tune

If the lifter valley cover from an LS3 is used should we plug the PVC vent and keep using the vent from the driver's side valve cover, or plug the valve cover and use the one from the valley?

If you recommend using the one on the valley, do you have a recommendation for the tubing required? And does the vent tube on the passenger side valve cover also need plugged or can we keep that connected to the intake?

One more question please... Can I completely swap the lifters and guides from an LS3 out of a 2010+ camaro?

If I find one at a salvage yard, I'd like to rape it and delete the DoD for even cheaper. I understand they're not as good as ls7 lifters, but hey, if it's got low miles, why not? My truck won't be seeing very high rpms anyway.

Thanks guys!!

the newer lifters are LS7 style anyways. as for using old lifters they are too cheap to not replace imho. if you cant afford an extra 150.00 then dont do the swap.

as for the pvc in the valley just plug it off and continue using the same vent setup you have

Sounds good, thank you. I priced out an ARP balancer bolt, ARP cam retainer bolts, LS2 timing dampener, LS7 lifters and guides and a valley cover for about $220. Over a hundred bucks cheaper than the kit.

I've got ARP headstuds so I'm good there, and my felpro head gaskets only have about 60 miles on them. I recently put a COMP cam in before I had done any studying on the DoD delete.

I'm going to tear it back down to do the DoD delete and a cam that'll give me more lift.

Will the part number listed for the 4.8L valley cover come with a gasket or will I need to modify mine?
