I've researched this for the last few days and I have a general idea of what needs to happen next but would like to see if there any other opinions that could be of help.
I installed the DL3 mirrors on my '07 LT, everything works fine signals, controls, etc.. I did order the new master switch to operate the folding option on the mirror, the switch is new and not from another vehicle. I know someone that owns and uses the Tech II for his business and is willing to flash the BCM once I install the DDS. Do I need to use the VIN from an LT3 / LTZ that was optioned with the DL3 or is ther an override code that can be applied via Tech II ... Or, does it take an act of congress to get it? I prefer not to go to a dealer since I have the option and use of a programmer. Any advice would be appreciated

I could be wrong but I'm almost positive you will need the VIN from a truck equipped with the DL3 option.

 

search my writeup everything you need to start this nightmare swap and make it work is in there. Grab a chair your checkbook and something to drink and follow it to the T and they will work perfectly.

Swap was completed ... Tech 2 was simple , went to DDS programmed with folding option, programmed PDS as well and works with no problem. No need to manipulate the VIN just added the option in the programmer. Write up was excellent and very helpful ... Thanks for the responses

 

Tech 2 doesn't have the option for adding DL3 Mirrors. Did your bud somehow manage to fanagle GM into adding the DL3 option to your existing VIN for your truck. When I inquired as a dealer tech by calling them they were complete ******** said it couldn't be done and more or less told me to **** off. So I found a way around it and found a way to make it work without their help.

BUT if you happened to call and catch the right guy who did know WTF was going on and helpful and you have his name I WANT IT PLEASE PM ME HIS NAME.

I watched the sequence .... Plugged Tech II into the OBD port and the programmer picked up my VIN. Once that happened He went to the L Side Door and went to the Master Control switch and TechII asked w/ or w/o power folding mirror .... selected w/ power folding and the programmer rebooted the Trucks BCM and the L side mirror was functional , Same sequence was performed on the R side Door switch. 20 minutes and both mirrors were operational. No calling GM for over ride codes no conflict with the reboot very methodical w/ no problem. I would locate an independent mechanic that uses the Tech II, it wasn't a big deal at all ....

I'm with gm use a tech 2 and the MDI is what is used to do programming operations. That's where the confusion for me is coming from my tech 2 does not give the option. We use the MDI and TIS2 web for programming.
