I'm in your same boat I have two options, u can have Pat G spec one put for 25$ or u can call up companies. I got a thunder racing 215/222 on a 113 LSA with ".602/ ".602. It us for a daily driver Silverado CCSB 4.8 2008. Mods in signature. Everyone is recommending long tubes, so I'm trying to figure out what to do with smog since it is illegal and will fail. Once I figure something out then I'm going for it. Also your going to need a retune for it and probably a stall. Circle D 3200. Allot of guys on here are running the 220 cam which works well with 5.3 n long tubes. Hope this helps, I'm sure other people will post some more helpful info since ur truck probably has DOD!

That seems like an awful lot of lift for a DD cam, but then again... I don't like changing springs . I'm enjoying my low lift 216/220 comp.

To the OP : Personally, on a 5.3, I wouldn't run anything over a TR 220/ TSP 220. There are guys that are doing it, and they may want to chime in with the driveability of them. I know my 216/220 with a Circle-D 3k stall seems to be a pretty good match. I'm also running milled 243 heads, so my engine is a fairly close match to the GMT900 trucks. (9.9:1 compression, 2.0" Intake/1.55" Exhaust valves). When you cam your motor, a good set of Long Tubes never hurts either.

Edit: And as for DoD... a tune can get rid of that, and I believe most guys like to change out the lifters due to failures of the DoD lifters.

I thought so too, but with my springs n pushrods I should be fine. Its either that or a 214/219 on a 113 LSA+3 advance. However when I asked why the odd number of 215/222 he said because of my heavy *** 26" rims. Don't know if that makes any difference or not in cam reccomendations

It defiantly comes into play. Every pound of rotating force in the wheels comes out to like 4 pounds of dead weight, or something like that.. All of the Comp LSr cam profiles have those kind of awkward splits and high lifts. They say that they're good for low end torque but there isn't a whole lot of people running them that I know of.
