I don't believe you are a father yet but when you are you will understand that " not putting the kid in the truck " is not a practical solution in everyday life it's easy for you to speculate and say that but you will understand. The main thing is the original poster asked if anyone put's a baby seat in their reg. cab and yes I do.
OK. I was just giving the OP insight from our point of view. Its a damn shame to see kids get hurt because their parents make poor decisions. Me having children has nothing to do with what I have seen.
I have seen people adapt to similar situations. Like they couldnt afford a car seat, or a booster seat. Grandma never got charged, because she died on scene. 3 year old bled to death, and 5 year old sister broke both legs, and had glass through her face. Because they didn't have a booster seat to keep the lap belt tight. The baby that was killed by the mothers elbow, because she had a reg cab truck, and rolled it into the ditch. carseat right next to her. She had blood on her elbow from the kid.
Well at least they don't have to worry about coming up with practical solutions to every day life anymore, huh?
