batterey is fine, it cranked this morning with no codes, they are still "searching" for the cause of the problem. all i know is if i cant trust driving it in the rain without electrical issues we are going to have problems.

Well before you trade it in let me swap out that 6.2 
My 06 dmax had some electrical gremlins when I would get in a heavy rain or go through a touchless laser wash, ended up being a loose connector on the pcm.

How long have you had the truck and the sound system? Not trying to defend the dealership, but there could be "SOME" validity if the stereo system was not installed properly, had it happen to me before.
More likely to have an electrical gremlin like Cody referred to, but things happen. Hope if all gets worked out for ya, sucks to be away from home and have stuff like this happen.

Grounds do some crazy ****.... Might not have been water/rain related at all
post up the ground number and codes, probably module communication codes.
A "bad ground" is also an easy out for a 'tech that can't find a problem and the vehicle fixes itself unexplainably.... Just be careful of that.
