ok, after a HALF OF A DAY wasted today, i found out that our GMT900s have 1350 yokes stock. well the gmt800s have 3R and the only way to get it to work on our trucks is to run a conversion yoke, or cut the end off the driveshaft, or change the yoke on your rear end to the gmt800 yoke and run a #r spicer u-joint.

Actually they are the same part on most half ton models. But yours is a 6.2 and probably has a 14bolt rearend correct? that is the same rearend used in all 3/4 ton models. So if you get a driveshaft from a gmt800 3/4 ton it should already have the 1350 yokes on the shaft.

But on all other half ton models with 10b rearends the regular gmt800 two piece shaft should work fine.

i have a 1500 2wd. my 6.2 wasnt stock, i swappe it in. i have a 10bolt rear end. the driveshaft that i picked up is from a 2wd ecsb 1500 its u-joints arent the same as mine. i have the HD trailoring package on my truck. i have 1350s stock, the 2 peice i have and im modifying is a 3R.

im not going buy another driveshaft, i can run the 3R/1350 conversion yoke without a problem. if it breaks ill get a custom driveshaft made and run 1350 spricer joints.

iamkeniff, I dont want to jack your thread but I recently purchased a 2010 5.3 RCSB 6l80 and I noticed I have a steel 1 piece drive shaft. My question is does anyone know how much more reliable these are than the aluminium ones that keep getting turned into pretzels?

If youre truck is 2wd, then not much, if its 4wd then quite a bit safer due to the shorter shaft. Id get the stock shaft balanced and roll with it.

I appreciate it guys. I'm still early in the mods list with this truck but a busted drive shaft would **** me off somethin fierce. Guess I'll look into a high speed balance. Don't have to worry about it until I get rid of these 3.08 gears that GM put in it but that may be soon
