I just bought an 06 Silverado 1500, crew/extended cab, short bed Z71. So I go looking for intake and exhaust mods and there don't seem to be many. It all seems to stop in 05. Then I read that there are two body styles for 06. My truck was actually sold in October 05. So what do I have? The engine is a Vortech 5.3 Gen III. Will all these mods sold for the 05 fit my truck? I have been at the Gen III mod game for a long time but I don't know any thing about trucks. I just want to do some simple bolt ons and some porting with my custom tuning to get the most out of the truck. The controller in EFI Live that reads the computer is the 04-07 LM7 Hybrid controller if that helps. Thanks in advance.

 

Is your truck a 06 classic??? If it is most 03-05 bolt ons will fit.

 

07 had two body styles, 03-05 will work on your truck. Is it a extended cab or crewcab? Just make sure you order it correctly, the crewcab has a super short bed, and the extended cab usually had a regular 6.5' bed but SOME came with the super short beds.

 

How do I tell if it is a "classic"? Does it say it some where on the truck? Sorry for the dumb questions. I am very new to trucks. I didn't know there were so many variables. Ask me any thing about engines, Vettes, TA's and I am there.

It must be an extended cab. The front door has to open to get the back door open and it has a full size bed. By the way GM, that is a beautiful truck.

The mods you have found for the 2005 will work on your 2006. LT Headers, Stall Converters, Shift Kits, CAI Kits and so on, are pretty much the same.
