I searched but couldnt find exactly what I was looking for. Are there any writeups or guides so that I can get a better idea of what I need and need to do on my 00 4.8 RCSB. Ive got a stock Chevy 7-pin hookup that I planned on wiring in but before I started hacking, I wanted to get a better idea of what Im getting into. If it makes a difference, Im going to be towing an Anderson 18' car hauler with electric brakes. Thanks guys.

I know on my 03 the 7-pin connector plugs into s box near the spare tire, where the tail light harness connects also, so I assume the box is there regardless of being equipped with the tow package or not. so if your truck has this (not sure if older ones do or not) you may just be able to plug right to it, and dont forget to install the fuse (40A I think) into the underhood fuse box, on "stud #1:"

 

If you already have a 7 pin setup just buy an adapter to go from 7-4 pin.
IF you do have it and just want an adapter let me know b/c my dad sells trailers and i can get you one depending on how quick you need it.
i have alot of info on the wiring so if you need help just let me know.

 

Thanks for the help, guys. I think Ive got it all under control now. Ive got a stock chevy 7-pin connector that was on my friends 01 Z71 that he isnt using. Im just gonna wire it in. Ive still got to pick up my brake controller but now that I have a little better understanding of the situation, it shouldnt be that bad.

 

For the brake controller buy the pigtail and save a lot of headaches with running wire to rear of the truck.
