Default Why is it bad to hit the rev limiter?

Ive seen some threads about this and im wondering why you guys think its bad to hit the rev limiter? I never rev my truck to the limiter, but all it dose is cut spark when you do so why dose everyone think it's so bad. Its not like your valves are floating or anything.

Well as long as the rev limiter is within the operation limits of the engine there really isnt much immediate risk....but if you sit there and bounce it off the rev limiter for a few minutes you are going to be really stressing components, and especially the cooling system.

Well you shouldnt ever need to if your shift points are set correctly...its there to prevent the engine from over-revving.

I thought that it cut fuel...if the PCM cut spark, raw fuel would dump into the cat converters...

If you're bouncing off the rev limiter, you are not accelerating.

yep, cuts the injectors.

think of that rpm and how fast stuff is moving at that point with all that force behind it and then off and then on and then off and then on, all those cycles at 6500rpm instead of 1500rpm. LOL It just sounds bad. Salck in timing chain, no slack, slack, no slack...ugh. Not what the engine is desgned to do. I have no room to talk, but I accept it can't be good.
