Default What would you pay for a 99+ 2500...

...What would you guys expect to pay for an extended cab chevy/gmc 2500? Is there anything to look for when looking for a truck like this? What year did they start putting the 6.0L in them? Thanks!!

-Sly

P.S. Anyone got one they want to sell?

Try EDmunds.com or Kelley Blue Book.com

They will tell you what they are worth. 6.0 were offered in them every year from 99-present, but I'd stay away from the 99 6.0s. They have iron heads.

for a 2500 i wouldnt pay more than $50, but for a 2500HD I would pay up to $20k.

The 2500 sux IMHO. Anytime you get a truck thats a 2500, comes with a 5.3, 1/2 ton frame, 3.42 peg leg, and is supposed to tow big trailers I say no thanks. The HD trucks are built tough and come with the 6.0/4L80E min.

Cool thanks guys! I found a 00 2500, doesn't say whether or not it's an HD but it does have the 6.0L. Also has leather, extended cab, 80k miles for $10,950 Been trying to call the guy but haven't gotten ahold of him yet. This sounds like a killer deal to me, what do you guys think?

Sounds good.. make sure its the 6.0. If its the 6.0 than its the hd... also ask about the transmission just to specify... see if you could get him down to like 9,700 or 10k, i think that would be a hell of a deal. How many miles?

I know it's a 6.0L for sure, not sure about the tranny, my guess is the 4l80e. As for miles it actually has 82k. I'm not too worried about the mileage because I know these engines inside out.

thats not correct.

a 99 2500 is a decent truck. it comes with the 4l80e and a iron headed 6.0. sure the 01+ aluminum headed motor would be better but the 99's still run strong. it also has the larger front end and rear. you have to be carefull when shopping because there are some old style 99/00 2500's out there that have the older 5.7 and old styling.

if you dont mind a few miles this seems like a prety good deal >> http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...=y&cardist=300

or a 2wd right here >> http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...=y&cardist=300

those are at dealers so they would drop some i am sure.

Thanks parish, I like the color of the blue one! The ones I have been looking at are these...

...
...

I've noticed there have been a bunch of the old body style floating around in the 99-00 years, kind of odd. I thought people had the year wrong or the wrong pic in their ad. So the 00 I found would have iron heads, are there any other differences besides that? Swapping the heads is not a big deal. Thanks!

i dont think you will be unhappy with the iron heads. they have the same ports and chamber just made out of iron. the 2000 will have iron heads. there are other things on the HD's that make them better. they have some kind of body lift, a cooler hood, the rear might be bigger, the exhaust is better, bigger frame. they also cost more.

that 1500 you posted is CHEAP. seems too cheap.
