if you dont mind a few miles this seems like a prety good deal >> http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...=y&cardist=300
or a 2wd right here >> http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...=y&cardist=300
those are at dealers so they would drop some i am sure.

i have never heard of a 5.3 2500. everyone that i have seen was a 6.0/4l80e/4.10 gears. prety tuff truck really. maybe there are some oddball trucks out there i dont know about. lately it seems like you can get all kinds of special power options.

So if I pick up this 2500 Sierra with the 6.0L in it I'm looking at, what kind of power do you guys think I need to get it into the 11's? I'm looking at a custom turbo kit I'll be building, aftermarket heads, cam, and all the boltons. Stock shortblock until it lets go.

I'm quite sure the 99+ 3/4 ton trucks never had the 4L60. And what rear end you get is whatever was ordered, usually 3.73 or 4.10. I'll never buy another 1/2 ton truck. They are built for soccer moms who will never use them as a truck. Used 3/4 tons cost about the same as 1/2 tons but come standard with 4L80's. That saves you $3-4k in trans rebuilds or 4L80 swaps. The HD's are bad *** too but the body is mounted so damn high on the frame, you better like the 35" mud tire look.

slyws6, if the one you are looking at is a 4x4 and has the pushbuttons keep a good eye on the transfer case. If it goes you can kiss about $2000 goodbye.
