I don't mind going big, but I don't want the truck to be a b**** to drive and vibrating big time while I am poking along with my GF in the truck...

Umm, how to word this......
Before you buy anything think carefully. Everyone here means well but it is you that has to live with your decision, not me.
I hear you saying you want a good quick street truck, I don't hear you saying you want the fastest truck on the track.
While you probably could gain more from a larger cam and stall your original choices were just fine for what I hear you saying.
Read some more.
Don't be swayed too easily from your own path.
Good luck!

Agreed if you want a nice docile truck that gets good mileage the combo you ahd picked out would be perfect. And when you transfer it to a CC with a 5.3 that cam will be awesome.

but dont forget man, it's also alot on ur tuner's style of tuning... My truck has always gotten really good mileage... fully bolt on I was getting 19.6 mpg in the city, I never tried it on the long road... cammed and stalled i get anything from 15mpg -16mpg with my QC... but yes with my TCI I got awful mileage, could've been cus it was tighter and heavier to go and my QC is really loose... Converters aren't like girls, Tighter isn't better. That's just my opinion cus I'm a fan of loose converters.

Yeah it is easy to get caught up in dyno and track numbers wanting to go faster. I just spoke to the GF about all this and she brought an important point. I have a somewhat high profile job at the biggest defense contractor in the nation, and sometimes it requires taking bosses (sr. mgrs and directors) to lunch or meeting them somewhere or traveling to offsite locations, meeeting customers from other countries, etc and I don't think I want to take my boss to lunch or meet any of the above mentioned in a cammed truck, IMO don't think that would be very professional, I have enough problems with the age difference, they all think i am young... Not to mention when ever me and GF go anywhere we always take my truck so I don't want her not to like riding in it or giving me crap about it.

docile and decent MPG is what I am wanting, with a little track attitude...

your GF has a good point man... you have 2 options, cam it out but with like a 220/220 116 LSA where it will be very quiet...or just put full bolt ons and a converter. You should have a respectable track 13sec truck with only full bolt ons and stall.
