Two electric cutouts down in two days!!!
Yep, I've had some bad *** luck with my cutouts in two days. First one was the vibration dropping the two screws that hold the motor in the unit. Upon investigation of the other cutout, I noticed that the bar the butterfly sits on is broke at where the screw that holds it to the bar is located. In other words, it will not open and close properly anymore. I am now running open cutouts until I can make some temporary plates for it tomorrow. My neighbors love hearing the truck roll in at midnight with the cutouts open.
Looks like I'll be sending in both units for repair, and I got them in November. I hope they can work with me alittle there.

Tha's just sad. After your other post, I decided to go check mine. I did find a small problem. One of them was not opening. The butterfly was just loose. Now I still have no complaints due to the use that mine get. This is the first problem in over two years. I've definantly gotten my moneys worth out of them. Anyway, my problem was the coupling with the set screws that hold the butterfly shaft to the actuator shaft. The set scre for the butterfly side needed to be tightened. Well of course since I stripped it. So I pulled it off and took it apart. I just retapped a larger set srew in and done. BTW, I went ahead and took the motor off just for grins. Man that sucker was on there. NO WAY it would have EVER vibrated those screw out. They had enough lock tight to hold down a set of heads.
On another note, the heatsheild between the passenger cat and tranny was about to fall off. Both bolts were still in, but just finger tight. I just took it on off. You know to save weight. Must be worth....5oz.

CRAZYCUTER4.8s dad has a 03' SS Procharged,cammed,etc.. and he has the same cutouts you do(elec) and I cant remember exactly what problem he was having and Ill get CRAZY to chime in but he has so much TQ that it was damaging the cutouts-like bending them and stuff.

I've been shopping for e-cutouts and this is the second time I've heard of QTP's falling apart. Another guy from ss.com (adams2003) just put on a set of butterfly style DHM cutouts...IMO they look much more high quality than the QTP's and they back 'em up w/ a 3 year warranty. Personally I'm looking at a set of guillitein (sp?) style ones... just need to find somwhere to fit them.

I used the QTP on my 99. NEVER sealed all the way when closed. Always sounded like i had an exhaust leak. What a piece of junk. Had it rebuilt multiple times. Last time it fell apart, it went into the garbage.
This looks like a stout unit, way out of my price range at $500 . Seems to me that a "gate" valve would seal better than a "butterfly valve" http://www.dougsheaders.com/online_s...ail.cfm?id=217
