Well, I am a Chemical Engineer. Although I can neither verify nor refute their claim about improving fuel economy, I do know of two potential issues with the use of acetone in unmodified fuel systems. One is that, like methanol, acetone dissolves many plastics and other organic substances. The other is, again like methanol, acetone is miscible with water. Both of these challenges can be overcome, but a stock system not designed for acetone may run into trouble.

but with it being in such small amounts do these points hold any water.....no pun intended you are talking about 2 oz per 10 gallons. One of my biggest concerns would be the low boiling point of acetone and it evaporating before adequately mixing with gas.

I have confirmed that it would mix with gas....now just a matter of testing. I have also found out the octane rating of acetone is 150 so that explains the octane boost resulting from it. How much of a boost remains to be seen.

BTW.....all rubber gas hoses, o-rings, etc in a fuel service are a different grade of rubber than the standard stuff. try putting a vacuum hose in some gas for a week......you will find that gas is corrosive itself. they specialy formulate different rubbers, plastics for fuel use and brake lines, etc.

on a side note....anyone want to guess what they put in the 'in-tank fuel injector cleaner'? well actually it is several chemicals but one that stuck out to me was ammonia. just food for thought

Maybe I'll try it in my bike (2001 Honda 400EX) first.

If acetone works so well with power and mileage I would think the epa would have forced companies to add it to gasoline/diesel fuels allready. Im skeptical about this one.

The EPA is controlled or influenced to some extent by companies with allot of cash to spend......oil companies maybe qualify?
