Just to clarify, the stock G80 works on a speed differential. So if you have one tire in snow and the other on pavement, the one on snow will initially spin with the pavement one stopped until there is a speed difference detected, then the two are locked together, so creeping along at low throttle is possible. For a trutrac or eaton posi with clutches, it worked on torque input. So with the same scenario at light throttle you will only have enough torque to drive one wheel, but when you get into the gas and increase the torque output of the engine both wheels will turn together. up here in NY, the G80 would be nice in the snow from a stop as right now I have to get into it to get them to both spin, but you can't beat the posi/trutrac in the dry conditions.

Cool video basically showing the slow speed differences between the two styles, posted from pacificp.com.

Cool demo of the G80 vs the limited slip in the jap truck...

I'd say yes, definitely worth the swap. Stud kit + cap = peace of mind.

stud kit is arp studs/washers/nuts in place of the stock bolts for the main caps. and the cap is the cover or rear diff cover. i know you know what were talking about you just had a brain fart itll be alright

So why are studs and nuts better than bolts? I noticed alot of guys use studs on heads rather than bolts...

basically all i can tell is that they have a finer thread which means it can get tighter, and the studs wont stretch like a bolt would under heavy torque

One of the things I really like about the TA Performance cap that I have (besides the quality) is that it has the two external load bolts to tighten against the bearing cap. Considering some of the hairy-assed Buick chit (http://www.hotrod.com/techarticles/e...ock/index.html) that TA Performance is known for, I think they're definitely worth the extra $$$, especially for BIG power.

some part numbers for the Cap and stud kit...by cap are you referring to the ENITRE diff cover, or just a internal brace?
