Exclamation truck won't start!!!!!!!!!!!

ok if the little car with the lock going throught it is aluminated how do you reset that so you can start your ride back up? ok so what had happen was, i install a remote start on my truck with the key bypass thing. well it works great but every once in a while i will get in the truck and put the key in and turn the key on so i can drive and my little car with the lock thing will be on. so i just shut it off and restart it. well this time (second time) it would not start at all. hit the key and let off and it just turns over for a few seconds and shuts off. last time i pulled the neg cable off just to where it had very little connection and held it there then when the wife tried to start it, it would try then go dead. this earased all the memory in the truck and i tightend the battery back down and it fired right up (works for ses light too) well this morning it was just me so i couldn't get it to work right i guess and the truck will not start at all i had to drive my car to work. so what is the "proper" way to reset this?

You need to do a key relearn it sounds like.
I did it once, let's see....
Turn on key to run.....wait till 'security light goes off. wait a minute. repeat 2 more times. Before attempting to start.
Look up "Key Relearn Procedure" before taking the above advice, good luck!

Yup thats it.....

Make sure doors are all shut and accessories are all off. May want to hook up a trickle charger too, as it may take some time to do.

PROCEDURE:

1.Insert key, attempt to start the vehicle and leave the key in the ON position.
In some vehicles, the Battery and Security light will blink for several seconds, and then shut off. Then the Security light will then remain ON. Leave the ignition ON until the Security light goes OFF. This will take more than 5 mins.

2.When the Security light goes OFF, turn the ignition to the OFF position.
Leave ignition OFF for 20 Seconds.

3.Attempt to start the vehicle again and leave the key in the ON position.
In some vehicles, the Battery and Security light will blink for several seconds, and then shut off. Then the Security light will then remain ON. Leave the ignition ON until the Security light goes OFF. This will take more than 5 mins.

4.Turn the ignition to the OFF position for 20 Seconds.

5.Attempt to start the vehicle again and leave the key in the ON position.

6.Once this entire procedure has been completed (three times) your vehicle will start on the fourth attempt.

if you have tuning software just turn off the VATS, the remote start is interferring and the problem will continue. Unless you want to do this over and over again (I don't have ~45 minutes to waste on a random start up) just remove VATS or have the remote start properly installed because something is wrong with the security interface

if you disable VATS then no one knows it, so a thief will still think that they have to deal with it, same deterence is still there. To disable VATS in the tune using HP Tuners go to the "System" section (where the fan controls are) and it's on one of those tabs, choose "disable". It'll at least be a temporary fix for now.

chevy dealerships hate electric starters. if you take it to the dealership with these symptoms you will find all of your electronic starting junk sitting in the passenger seat when you go to pick it up. my buddy bought my old truck from me and did the electric start and had the same symptoms. i told him it was all that crap he stuck in the harness and he wouldnt beleave me. took it to the dealership and they ripped all of that out, along with his alarm
