Default Truck shifts out of park without the brake after hydroboost conversion

Not that this keeps me up at night, but just curious. I can shift my truck out of park and into any gear without applying the brakes. I have the hydroboost conversion and jumped the vacuum harness with a wire to clear the brake warning light.

I am assuming one of those caused the change, but not sure. Has anyone else with the hydroboost swap noticed this?

I had an 87 Jimmy back in high school, the ignition cylinder was so worn out you didn't need the key anymore, and since the top was always off, I just kept my fingers crossed no one wanted it. I made the mistake of firing it up without the key when a friend was in it, so he decided to steal it and park it on the other side of the school later that day. Took me an hour to find it, but I was just thankful I got it back.

Sounds like my 64. Fires up with anything you can get the ignition to turn with, then just drop it in gear and ride.

Lol , I used to have old Chevy trucks that didn't need a key either , hell you also pull the key out while it was running , made it nice to start it up and lock the doors while you went inside while it warmed up lol.

I have no idea why your Tahoe is doing it ?

NSBU switch ??! How you liking the Hboost ?

Hah, yeah, the Jimmy did that. To mess with my girlfriend at the time, I would pull the keys out and throw them to her while we were cruising on the highway. (she pretty much thought we were going to die )

Not familiar with the NSBU switch but I'll read up on it to see if I can diagnose it.

Hydroboost is awesome. I can brake with my big toe now, whereas before, it needed my whole foot and about 3-4" more travel. Pedal feel and travel is great, and braking power is much improved. Before, I couldn't engage ABS from 10mph standing on the pedal, now I feel like can engage ABS at pretty much any speed, though I haven't tried over 40mph. Definitely wish I had done this sooner. Note: I also swapped to the larger (13" vs 12") 07+ front calipers, braided lines and powerslot rotors at the same time, so some of the improvement is due to those items too.

That's awesome , sweet upgrade , glad it's working good for ya .

Wonder what year they started putting hydro boost on tahoe s ? My wife's 05 z71 has hydro boost .

NSBU switch , as its called on my dmax is the switch connected to the linkage telling the vehicle what gear position it's in , having a brain fart on what the 60/80e uses , but I thought it might be a place to check.
