Truck newB questions
#1
I bought a 2000 Silvy 4x4 4.8ltr longbed regular cab a couple of weeks ago. Here are some of my questions. I got it for $6800 with 190K on the odometer. The truck looks and drives like new, other than a couple of scratches. It came with the chrome 16" steel rallyes on it. I just bought a set of the 17" Suburban aluminum rallyes/tires. They are the 5 star type. They look awesome. The tires are brand new Bridgestones. They are takeoff rims and tires. They are different than the 17" rallyes that my brother has on his 04 Z71 Suburban if anybody knows what his are. His are more busy. I love my new truck.
1. What were the years for my style, was it 99-02?
2. How can you tell the years apart in my style? I've seen some that look just like mine with a big "Cheverolet" written across the tailgate. Mine doesn't have this.
3. Where can I find a HD hood other than the dealership?
4. The truck has a natural rake to it(nose down). My buddy who is way into trucks says this is easy to adjust. I just want to raise the nose about an inch. He says that is no problem, that there are some adjustments underneath on the suspension that I can turn to raise the nose. A couple of other guys have said this. Is this true? They also say that the more you raise the nose the worse of a ride you will get.

2.)The 99-02's look the same in appearance for the most part, and the ones with the big 'Chevrolet' across the tailgate are the base model trucks.
3.)To get the frontend up, just crank up the torsion bars a little and get an alignment, it may ride a little stiffer but to me feels more controlled.
Hope this helps you out a little and welcome to the truck world.

You don't have a pic of the adjustment for the torsion bars do you. Thanks again.

The GMC Yukon XL (Suburban) has a nice set of 5 spokes form the factory. Kind of a thinner spoke tahn the Chevy 5 spoke wheels and they angle out toward the lip some. I think they have covered lugs also, right?
Edit- NM those are 6 spoke.
These are the ones that came with my 04 Z71, are these the ones?

The only differences of the '99-'02s are:
- '99 - '00 models with split benches had a fold-down cupholder that was part of the dash. That changed in '01 to a cup-holder mounted on the floor next to the middle seat.
- '99 - '00 models had a "boxy" style engine cover for the 4.8L -5.3L's. That was also changed in '01 to a curvier one.
- Most '99 -'02 Chevys have the "whale-tail" tailgate cap. But some, started in '01 or '02 have the flat ones like the GMC's do.
- '99 - '00 model Ext. cab trucks had only 3 doors (no ext. cab door on the driver side) standard, but in '00 4 doors was an option. In '01 they went to 4 doors standard.
This is all I know of.
