Default 408 or Turbo?

Would it be better if I got a 408 LS1 (I think it's what parish8 is running now), or a turbo set up from Livernois (sp) motorsports? BTW, I can't afford any of this stuff till' about summer 07 so no hurry, lol.

IM kind of partial to a big ci motor with a nice fat cam in it. Thats why Im doing it. You can get the 408 first then later on strap a turbo to it and then really have fun. Thats what I eventually plan on doing but the turbo is years away with the way gas prices are which a turbo wouldnt be nearly as bad on gas if you could theoretically keep your foot out of it.

with the right heads and cam setup I think you could make more power with a boosted 5.3 than an NA 408 plus it would be alot more streetable than an NA 408 makeing 650 at the wheels and gas would be easier

On my old 5.3 it was putting just under 500 hp to the ground with a turbo, headers and 1.85 rockers. This was at 8 psi. More boost could have easily put it in the 550-575 range. Heads and cam and it may have seen 600+. Off course it probably would not last to long with a stock bottom end.

Not neccesary unless you have a ton of money to blow. Just a turbo can be scary fast.

of those two i'd have to pick the turbo. i'm not big on the idea of taking the aluminum block out to 408 cubes. a 408 from an LQ4/LQ9 i'd do over both though.

But i'd have to go with the turbo too only b/c of gas reasons though
