Default Troubleshoot this !

Ok, I want to get some opinions. I have an 02 suburban, and recently when driving at highway speeds with the A/C on, I can hear a short "pshhhhht" sound....like the A/C compressor is purging excess air. The sound is coming from outside, presumably from the compressor and is quite loud. Doesnt do it at slower speeds or at idle. Sound comes around every 10 to 15 seconds. Air blows cold, everything else normal. So before I just buy a new A/C compressor, I thought I would ask your opinions, maybe I can get away cheaper.

Thanks, Ron

you have a buy a new compressor..... the clutch is sticking when it does your belt is spining... that belt is so small and only stays stuck for a short time it sounds like its air but its the belt.... you could just replace the clutch on the compressor but i would just get a new one.....

LOL at the blowoff valve! I do appreciate the advice on the compressor though. I will have to find one soon then. Anyone here got a good A/c compressor for sale? Thanks, Ron

hehe.... did anyone think of the orifice tube... its inline, and it takes the tube size and reduces it.....

ive seen taht cause a condition similar to what you are explaining.

maybe got a lil junk in it.... may want to actually have the system checked..... or you could have a new compressor with same problem....

if it was belt you would hear a squeal about 90 % of the time taht is

Not hearing any squealing, how would i recognize the orifice tube? Think its something I can clean out myself?
