Default track tonight

going to the track in a couple of hours. should be interesting. i think it is going to blow up. it is just running way too hard. i dont know if i am just a wuss because i haven't driven it in awhile or if it is really pulling that hard but it feels like it is going to blow up every time i floor it. not like there is a problem, it is smooth but it is pulling so hard i just can't imiagne it lasting.

anyways. going to pull the seat and gate then make some runs and see where it is at.

15psi, no nitrous, exhaust closed.
15psi, no nitrous, exhaust open.
15psi, no nitrous, exhaust open, lock up about 5000rpm in 2nd.
15psi, no nitrous, exhaust open, lock up if it helped and up shift points from 6000 to 6200
16-17psi and same as above
and if it hasn't blown up yet give it a 75shot out of the hole(2500-4500).

thats a lot of runs, if they are busy i wont get that many in and there is a chance of rain too so who knows. it is suppose to be prety cool tonight though. i think my new tires are not as good as the stock ones were so geting a low 1.6 60' probably wont happen. without a good hole shot it is going to be hard to beat my best time.

no new best ET. couple of things hurt me. for one it never cooled down like it did last time i went to the track. it was still 70deg when i made my last run. the other thing is traction. my new tires plain suck. they look cool but do not hook at all. my best 60' was a 1.78 with the new tires and a 1.62 with the stock firestones. that is just killing me.

the br7 plug took care of the miss fire up top i got to the track a little late and didn't have time to make all the runs i wanted to. it is kind of hard to make comparisons because my peak boost kept going up a little even though i didn't adjust it at all.

first run 15psi open exhaust no nitrous 2.11 60' 12.01@117.18

2nd run same boost setting but saw 15.8psi, open exhaust, locked up converter from about 5000rpm in 2nd gear on. 2.164 60' 11.93@119.47

3rd run same boost setting but saw 16.8psi, open exhaust, turned up shift points 200rpms and added a hair of fuel. 2.10 60' 11.79@119.63 , new no nitrous best.

4th run 75shot out of the hole(about 1 sec). 1.78 60' 11.35@119. saw 17psi on this run(still havent touched the boost controler)

5th run, let it cool for a long time and bumped the boost a tiny bit. still saw 17psi though. 1.76 60' 11.33@121.17, on this run i completly blew off the tires. it wasn't smooth at all. i believe the truck could pull some 1.5's with the right tires.

there was no knock retard on any runs other than a deg or so at the shifts. 20deg timing on all the runs and the truck didn't blow up. i even went out racing after the track. didn't do much racing but i took several people for rides and did some 50+mph peal outs ini 2wd. i am prety much amazed this motor is taking 17psi. i mad 3 runs in that area and it is still alive. i was tempted to turn it up but i dont think i would see a 10sec run unless i can get those 60' times down. that is my next project i think.

parish8 I bought the same tires that you currently have on your truck. I know what you mean. When I first bought them I could literly smoke them at a stand still without power breaking it. However, after about 6000 miles on them they tend to stick 100 times better than new. I would never buy another set though, way to expensive and they have a tendency to wear fast.
