Default Towing 10K+, have some questions......

I will be homeward bound back to the greatest state, Texas in a couple weeks and have some questions.

I plan on towing my Blazer with one of those front mount tow bar setups and having my 16' trailer with my ATV and some other stuff behind that. I'm not worried about the weight, I need to know the laws on pulling 2 things. I know most states say you must be under a certian length, but what else do I need to know? Will I get pulled over for pulling too much?

I know alot of guys who tow travel trailers and boats at the same time in Texas with no problems.

I really wish I had a Denali cluster for the tranny gauge for this trip. O-well, thats what warranty's are for.

I am not for sure about the rest of the states but in Texas you will need a CDL to pull a double trailer, and you are pulling a double trailer. The maximum combined GVWR is 26,000 lbs (truck, trailer, load) and the load can not exceed 10,000 lbs (Texas, class C).

Yes, you could claim dumb but then again what you are talking about is really unsafe, especially the tow bar. I am thinking you are going to rent a tow bar from U-haul or someother place. If I was you I would stay really far away from those things for the mileage you plan are going for, if you were going 200 miles or less then they are ok, but not 2,000 miles. I have seen countless RVs just dragging a tow bar with no vehicle attached to it, I wonder where there vehicle is.

How much stuff is going on the 16' trailer besides the atv? Could all of that stuff fit in the Blazer?

This is what I would do assuming the stuff is little and not beds, dresser, and tables. Load the ATV on the very front of the trailer, across and maybe riding the rail, and the blazer right behind the atv with all your stuff in it. Anything larger will need to be shipped, sold, or another trip be made.

Your transmission is going to hate you.

Make two trips, or rent a u-haul van.

I am looking at buying a 24' flatbed trailer that I could fit my Blazer and ATV on. It may be heavy but it will get the job done in one trip.

Its the Blazer in my sig. I think its too tall and unstable to put an 800lb ATV on top.
