It's been so long since I've seen a stock C3/Denali instrument cluster and not an Escalade or aftermarket unit, that it's actually refreshing. JPCustoms had a lot of cool stuff, they were fairly expensive, but put together some otherwise sometimes hard to locate parts. Also, as you mentioned the '99 & '00 models will illuminate an a light when a cluster from an '01 / '02 is installed. I actually thought it was the alternator light, but whatever. JPCustoms modified the units in whatever way was necessary to make them truly plug & play, but unfortunately they have since went out of business. My steering wheel came from them.

I pulled over and took a quick look at the temp sensor in the head, it was plugged in and the wires look good, so my gut says that the stepper motor took a crap. What sucks is that this is a Denali cluster, and it doesn't even have a ton of miles on it...

anyway, enough BS-ing...when I get a chance I'll test the wiring (I'm sure that there's a test that I can do where I ground one of the wires or jump them out of something...unfortunately I'm packing since I'm moving and I already packed my service manuals), and the sensor probably has a resistance test that I can do...but, if it is a stepper motor, where's the best place to get one?
X25.168 updated stepper motors are what I believe you're lookin for. I'll call ya about this.
