Default Talk about lucky...

I had just come off I-95 from eight hours of uneventful driving last night and was at a traffic light and in the left lane. It was after 10 PM and I was ready to get home. Another vehicle came up next to me in the right lane, but I never looked over to see what it was. When the light changed, I accelerated but not strongly enough to make much noise. I was moving ahead of the other vehicle, but then it accelerated up beside me. About the time I reached the 40 mph speed limit, I heard his air intake increase and he started to move past me. Then I did two stupid things...I still didn't look at the vehicle other than peripherally, and for some reason I let him annoy me and I hammered the accelerator. My tranny downshifted to second and within a few seconds I was moving past 70 mph. I looked in the mirror and I had pulled him by about five lengths. Then his grille lit up with flashing red and blue lights. Since I knew it was too late to do anything, I didn't even put on brakes...I just coasted back down to just over the 40 speed limit. But before I got down to that, he turned off the lights. I moved over into the right lane expecting him to pull me over, but he just slowly came up beside me, and when he was alongside, I could see that it was one of the black/yellow Fla Highway Patrol Camaros. He matched my speed for about 15 seconds, flashed his white/yellow light bar once, then slowly pulled away. I turned off about a minute later to the road to my house and that was the last I saw of him.

I can't imagine what that was all about and why he didn't pull me over for all kinds of violations.

Yeah, there are some gearheads cops floating around out there. Sounds like he has lots of fun in that Camaro, and probably happens to him all the time.
I got pulled over last week cuz a cop heard my turbo chatter when turning behind him ( no BOV ). He thought I had busted the tires loose. Having come from watching an NBA playoff game at Hooter's I was quite nervous ( not enough drinking to get cuffed, but worrisome anyway ). Long story short, I had the dude under the bed checking out the STS within 5 minutes. Not even a verbal warning once he saw the turbo.

Some cops are really cool. I was doing 60-something in a 45 and a state trooper in the oncoming lane turn his lights on and I slowed down and he cut them off and kept going. I was glad he just gave me a "warning", cause I just got a ticket a couple of days before.

Neat story. I got pulled-over by an unmarked on the DC beltway in the 70s driving my 71 Dodge. Was doing about 95 when I saw lights closing on me and knew I was nailed.
He came up to the window and was smiling (wasn't expecting that) and started asking me questions lie "do you know how fast you were going..."? I was driving on a revoked license. Told him I was testing it after putting the heads back on after a valve job(which was true). After a "do you what I could do..."? he let me go with a warning.
