Something is telling me out it the fuel pump. If you havent touch the starter, I wouldn't worry bout it yet, check fuel pressure.

What does hard to start mean? Does it crank slowly, or does it crank at a normal speed and crank and crank and crank before it finally starts?

Try to turn key to on position for about 15sec then turn off then try to start if it starts right up after u primed the system u have a fuel problem and not a starter problem. If you can get your hands on a fuel pressure tester would be a good place to start if you just changed the starter.
