Default Is the starter fast enough to build oil pressure?

I am putting a lq4/4l80e in a buddies 85 suburban and I thought for ***** and giggles I would prime it before we cranked it. I have never done this before, I always just put oil in them and crank them. Will the starter turn it over fast enough to build any pressure? I have turned it over for about 2 minutes and nothing has made it to the valve cover yet.

I did put on a new o-ring on the pickup but I was carefull and used some oil to lube it so I am pretty confident that I am good there and I have not had the pump off or the rear cover.

Thoughts??

That is what I have always done as well and I have been fooling with these motors for years but I just thought I would try it this time.

If your concerned about it you could pour oil down the oil pressure sensor hole to fill the galleys. Also can load the oil filter with oil. I'm not sure if the oil will bleed into the pan though before you got it back together and started.

I got mine to prime by pulling the plugs and spinning it over. With the plugs in i would not get any pressure to build. Once the plugs were out it spun crazy fast and primed right up.

I turned my motor over with the starter until it built pressure no problem. Plugs were in, coils unplugged, and fuel pump relay out of the truck. Took about three cranks and then I saw pressure.

This one would not build pressure with the starter. I even pumped oil through the motor and turned it over and it would not build pressure. I just fired it up with vats still on and after about 3 cranks it had pressure.
