If it's cranking then it's not your starter...have you noticed if the problem happens more when the truck is cold or after a hot soak? The fuel pressure regulator may be leaking, causing the engine to run rich/flood. It's very common...the fpr is located in the middle of the driver's side fuel rail. It's circular with a vacuum line going to it. Pop the vacuum line off of it and check for the presence of fuel (either wet or strong smell). If gas is there, the fpr is poop.

if the car has been sitting over night or a week it starts just fine, but the next start is usually the sketchy one. on friday after starting the car to drive home, i drove to my Gf's about an hour hwy drive, sat around for 20 min then went out and it was hard to start. same thing sat moring, started fine then went to work, came out 2 hours later after sitting and was hard to start. had the batt tested on sat and it tested fine.

Cool deal Your truck's symptoms are exactly what happens when the fpr goes bad

If mine sits up for a full day. and i go to crank it. it takes a few seconds to fire up and smooth out..
Is it my FPR also?

I went out on a 2 week trip and when i got back home to my truck it took several seconds and took about 20 seconds for the Idle to smooth out...

The usual symptoms of the fpr occur after a hot soak, but it's worth checking...only takes a second to pop the vacuum line off. Have you happened to notice if the truck smokes when it starts up and idles rough...like it's running rich? Could be a fuel injector leaking also, or maybe even an IAC problem. You could also try cleaning the throttle body, it may be full of carbon and crud, creating issues with the IAC passages.
