I've got a 2002 regular cab silverado, as far as stereo upgrades ive got 2 mtx 10's, 400watt amp and an alpine 9805 head unit. I was wondering if upgrading the speakers is worth the money, sometimes it sounds like the subs just completely drown out the speakers, would aftermarket speakers help with this? Also what exactly are the dimensions of the speakers and are there brands i should look into or definitely not consider buying.
thanks
thanks

I have JL Audio component speakers in the doors, with the tweeters mounted just under the door pull. Have JL's in the stock location by your head. Alpine headunit, with amp for sub. Sounds great. Add JL Audio to list of speaker to listen to before you buy.

One of my speakers went out in the front door. I switched them out to Alpine Type S speakers and the difference was like night and day. I have 2 Alpine 10's and the smaller speakers have no problem playing over the subs. I would definately replace them.

I got MBQuartz PSD's components in the front doors and Reference Series Coaxials in the rear doors. Sounds super loud and crisp behind my JL 300/4 amp. When looking at door speakers, especially components, look at the type of tweeters used. JL uses a soft dome tweeter which prduces high frequencies that are smooth and don't really hurt the hears. MB Quartz uses tweeters made of some type of metal which produces highs that are more crisp which some say are too loud and high pitched. Pick a tweeter that goes with the typs of music you listen to. You probably don't want a super loud and crisp tweeter with country or classical music. Good luck

ie
Componets dont have to make the same compromises....the tweeter and woofer are seperate drivers, the crossovers ( the part the splits the low freqs for the woofer and highs for the tweeters ) are normally alot better and the drivers are higher quality. how high depends on what price range ur going for. plus since the tweeter is it own piece you can mount it in a different place from ur woofer to maximize the performance of ur soundstage.
Images shown are infinity referance for coaxial and crystal CSCs for the components
Note there is a hybred of the 2 where the seperate tweeter has a mount on the woofer and uses and outboard crossover, if you have to use a coaxial design due to mounting contraints, its a good way to go.
These are CDT"briaxials" cl-63 and crystal CSX 615s
