I've got an EC Sierra also with a blown front right speaker. I think the 6.5. I've been wanting to replace everything at once. I listen mainly to rock and want a good setup that goes well together. I want a good amp 2 12's under my back seat and probably leaning towards CDT 6.5's. Would this be a good setup and could it be had for close to 1000?

InstantMessage djdilliodon on aol/aim hes a CDT dealer and can get u a smokin price, figuer 150 for 6.5 CDT classics , at mmxpress you can get image dynamic ID v.3 12s for about 120 each ( awsome sounding subs ) thats about 400 there, custom box would be the way to go, if ur not the woodworking type then figure 100-150 for a box.thats 550 so you got about 450 to play with for amps, http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...737009450&rd=1 sound stream van gogh ( still made in america ) 800.2 for about 210 and http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...737009434&rd=1 van gogh 400.2 for 145 the CDTS. thats 855 right there giving you alot for amp wiring and such.

also check out www.knukonceptz.com for wiring, I have there stuff its Awsome stuff for the money.

BTW this system would have fantastic sound quality.

Thanks a lot man very informative post. It will be hopefully early next year before I do this. Until then I have to listen to the blown speaker. The CDT 6.5's are 150 a pair or a peice? I was going to buy a custom box for 40 bucks a couple months ago but then decided to hold off on the system. I will definitely IM djdilliodon and see what kinda deal I can get. Thanks again for the help.

Also remember ( for those that are just using there HU ), an amp for your speakers IS A VERY GOOD IDEA, I dont give 2 shakes of salt what a salesman says at ur brick and mortor store, no headunit can match a decent amp and everone I know that has put an amp on there speakers to see the difference has agreed .

Also since alot of people asked, the speakers in the rear of the extened cab are 4x6s but ur normal choices of 4x6s well.....suck. you have 3 options other than doing sucky 4x6s.....1 use no rears at all ( lots of audiophiles do it this way so there soundstage up front doesnt get messed up ) 2 cut out the hole for 5.25s ( kinda a pain in the *** but its agood idea, note: you will have to make a plate or some kind off baffle so the sound waves from the rear of the cone cannot reach whats coming out the front of the speaker otherwise they will cance each other ) or 3 use a 4x6 "plate" speaker....whats that you ask? well its a plate thats the correct mesursments as the normal ovel 4x6 but mounted in the plate are a round 4: speaker and seperate tweeter. btw round cone its better than an ovel as it offers truer sound reproduction.....here is a plate speaker

Ones off the top of my head are boston acoustics ( my first choice ) infinity kappa ( my second choice...they also make it in the referance line but the quality of the kappa is far higher...if you ever hold both in ur hands youll see what i mean ), eclipse and clarion...I think audiobahn makes one to but i would touch them with a 10 foot pole lol.

WOW just looked around, found some polk momo plates on ebay for 75 bucks.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...736637474&rd=1
These would be my first choice

alright i just got back from pricing some speakers, and the ones i have narrowed it down to, these are all 6.5in component speakers, are mb quartz dse216 models for $229, infinity reference series for $159, infinity kappa series for $239, and some rockford fosgates, didnt catch the model #, for $129. do any of these sound like resonable buys?
