I have been thinking about buying a new truck and have really been thinking about getting a 2500 ECSB 4x4. My plan was to get a 6.0L with the 4l80E however after a couple of weeks ago I might just stick with the 1500 5.3 combo.
I say this because I borrowed my father inlaws 6.0 2500 RCSB 4x4 to go pick up a Mustang out in Indiana that I bought for my son. The reason we used his truck was for the ext. cab and i figured it would be a good test to see how I was going to like this combo. Right from the start before I even hooked up the trailor it seemed like it was working alot harder than my truck just to drive around town. Then when we hooked up the trailer I was really let down because it really was working. When I loaded up the Mustang and started out back home I was shocked because the first thing I thought to myself was "my truck (1500 RCLB 5.3 4l60e/373 gear) would outpull this thing like nothing. to top it all off the gas MPG was only about 12 MPG and my truck gets about 14 towing at 75 MPH. Has anybody else noticed this or was there something wrong? His truck is an 06 with low mileage and it runs great other than being underpowerd.
Could it be the extra weight from the EC and 4wd?
Or is my truck a freak. keep in mind that my truck ran 14.6 and its 100% stock and everybody that has driven my truck is shocked at how good it runs.

My dad drives like a grandpa, and I've noticed that after I drive it for a while it seems to run alot better. I think it's the cumputer being used to him driving it, and then changing more towards how I drive. Gas milage doesn't change though, 10-13 mpg, no matter what.
