mine did the same thing when I lived down in tempe. Electric fans seemed to cure it for me. I think maybe the stock clutch fan can't pull enough air at idle to cool the condenser and the radiator? You could also try a 34" radiator from an 05+ or 2500 truck, they bolt right in.

Yeah ive been thinking about that for awhile. the problem is my intercooler wraps around the tanks of the rad. which means i would have to redo my intercooler AGAIN lol. Also i have tried the eletric fan kit from flex a lite for the 28 inch rad. it seem to work at idle but when pulling a trailer at night doing 70 i could not control my temp. it just kept climbing. what did you do for a rad and fans?

You're not running a grille insert that would reduce airflow, right?

You could try advancing the timing at idle. From my experience, it helps the old SBC's...

This is not true, all your old hoses and transmission cooler lines will fit right up. I have done this personally. Its a little clever engineering on GM's part.

His intercooler piping wraps around the 28" radiator, it won't fit with the 34" Are your turbo pipes wrapped well, turbo blanket? Anything you can do to keep the heat out from under the hood will help it.
